Adaptive Dance Classes

Central West – Adapted Dance Program in Brampton Ages 8-14

Autistic children ages 8-14 are invited to attend 6-weeks of private adaptive dance classes in Peel at A New DAEI Dance Studio to learn a variety of dance styles.

This is a program for autistic individuals who are able to follow group instructions independently. *Individuals must be able to participate without parental/guardian assistance.

Location: A New DAEI Dance School. Inside the Art of Dance Centre, 1 Nelson Street West, Lower Level (Unit 11B & C) Brampton, Ontario, L6X 1B6

Time: Saturdays from 2:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.

Dates: September 23, 30, October 7, 14, 21, 28

Registration: $20.00 (no refunds)

Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing. Indoor running shoes are a requirement. This program is open to individuals of all abilities. Should participants require additional support, a parent or support worker is encouraged to attend the class.

Students will:

  • Work on improving and developing skills including gross motor skills
  • Participate in dance games to concrete movement techniques
  • Be encouraged to communicate using both verbal and non-verbal cues
  • Work towards forming learned dance techniques into comfortable, repetitive choreography

Children, Youth and Adults with complex and special needs get the opportunity every week to explore the awesome worlds of dance, movement and music. Our professionally-trained movement coaches adapt each session to meet the specific needs of each individual participant — taking into account unique abilities, strengths and personal desired goals. We have a focus on developing gross motor skills, Having fun is key, so we move at the pace of our dancers to be sure we can positively impact all forms of their development.
